The Gloria Law Group:

Expert Legal Assistance for Orders of Protection and No Contact Orders

The Constitution grants everyone the right to "associate" or be wherever they choose, unless there is a lawful reason prohibiting them from doing so. An order of protection serves as that lawful reason, restricting someone from certain actions or from being around another individual.

At The Gloria Law Group, we are one of the few firms with extensive experience in both defending against orders of protection and filing them on behalf of clients (representing both Petitioners and Respondents). During the COVID-19 pandemic, these types of cases were among the only ones permitted to be heard in person, and we were one of the few firms in Lake and Cook County granted permission to continue appearing in court during quarantine. Gloria Virginia personally handled 12 separate order of protection hearings in just one week, a testament to her deep knowledge and expertise in this area of law.

In Illinois, the laws governing orders of protection are constantly evolving, often at a pace that can leave judges and court staff unfamiliar with every change. For example, questions like whether you can obtain an order of protection for a child against another child, request a laminated card to show others that you have an order of protection, or even force a co-worker to leave their job are all answered with "yes." Recent legal updates, such as the introduction of "Hope Cards," educational restrictions, and employment obligations, have expanded the scope of these protections.

While orders of protection typically apply to domestic (family-related) situations, you can also secure non-domestic protection under Illinois' No Contact and No Stalking laws. Although they are not identical, both serve the same purpose: keeping the Respondent (Defendant) away from the Petitioner.

Orders of Protection and No Contact Orders can have significant and long-lasting consequences for those involved, no matter which side of the case you are on. We are uniquely equipped to handle these matters, particularly on short notice or in emergency situations. Our familiarity with the local judges and the intricacies of the law allows us to navigate these cases with skill and efficiency.
